Action for Celiac Disease

Action for the welfare of people suffering from celiac disease.

Mission and Purpose

The Action for Celiac Disease Association’s mission is to promote awareness and distribute news and information on celiac disease, achieve solidarity among members and support individuals who have been diagnosed with celiac disease.

General Information

Action for Celiac Disease is the outcome of the collaboration of people who live in Macedonia, Epirus, Thrace and Thessaly. Their passion for knowledge on celiac disease related issues was the actual reason that has united them.  Access to safe nutrition and certified gluten-free products were their main agonies. Since every diagnosed celiac disease individual shares the same agonies, Action for Celiac Disease aims to serve and facilitate their everyday lives through knowledge and communication.

Goals

  • Disseminate current information about celiac disease, also through the media.
  • Collaborate with other foundations and associations in Greece and abroad, striving towards the same goals.
  • Mutual support achievement among the members of the association. Provide support to any member in need.
  • Inform, encourage and support celiac disease patients and their parents as well as their guardians.
  • Assert the rights of people with celiac disease.
  • Organize social and artistic events as well as trips which will serve the goals of the association.
  • Keep a close affiliation with a core of expert physicians, biologists, dieticians as well as medical societies and associations.
  • Inform patients about any advances of the medical research teams and how all these can be put into practice.
  • Collaborate with national partners, government and insurance agencies to provide aid to the patients of celiac disease and educate policymakers about the critical unmet needs of people with celiac disease.
  • Organize a network of volunteers who will engage as active partners of the association and will promote and implement any necessary actions taken by it.
  • Organize and participate in lectures, forums, educational seminars and conferences so that attendees and their families can receive the latest information on celiac disease, the gluten-free diet, and therapies in the pipeline, as well as sample the latest gluten-free products.
  • Contact food manufacturing companies, restaurants and hotels so that they can provide proper gluten-free products and options to celiac disease patients.
